Molly’s inspiration comes from the natural world as well as man made structures. She prefers to hand build – sometimes combining different techniques, for example throwing with slab building. A white/creamy earthenware clay is used, often with the addition of slips. To enhance the patterns and textures she applies to the surfaces of her pieces she adds swathes of colour using stains and oxides. Either a glossy or matt transparent glaze is applied for the final firing, further enriching the quality of the surfaces.
